Corrosion on steel reinforced concrete structures are critical and sometimes incurable if not acted on on time. Corrosion of steel within the concrete is caused when it is exposed to harmful agents that chemically destroy its structure. To help reduce the corrosion of steel reinforced concrete we can determine the penetrability of the concrete that covers the reinforcing. With the OPI we can determine this by pressurized oxygen flow through the concrete and measuring the amount that the pressure drops by the time it exits on the other side. This procedure is followed in relation to the applicable humidity of the geological area that the concrete is used in.
